all signs indicate that online radio is ready to take off, leading our oldest broadcast mass medium to a new heyday. Thanks to the path laid out by the successful monetization of the Internet by search engines, online radio is well-positioned to begin matching its balance sheet with its booming listener base as well.

The Coming Online Radio Ad Boom - Forbes.com

This is a short Op-ed piece written by the CEO of TargetSpot (AdSense/AdWords for audio).

When Union Square Ventures and CBS announced the service last year, I opined that hypertargeted advertising in radio streams would still ruin the experience unless the broadcasters really kept a lid on it.

The CEO of TargetSpot responded to me and really framed things in a constructive way.  I was very impressed.

I am way long TargetSpot.  I haven’t checked their site since the announced but it has some great tools. Local advertisers can make their own ads; broadcasters can choose who advertises and how much advertising they want to put in their stream.

Check it out.  It will probably be huge.
