The U.Va Alumni Magazine has a great article that compiles a dozen or so stories from alums that are/have served in Iraq.
They’re all incredible people and hearing from them was very inspiring. Many of the families that I grew up around in the Washington, D.C. area have members who serve. (Not to mention both of my biological grandfathers, USAF and USMC).
It’s incredibly important to me that the military is treated with respect and humility and empathy by the civilian government (and the public at large). Among other things, the lack of this quality has offended me the most about the current admin (and some of the more liberal people I’ve met in SoCal).
