RWW hits on two likely axes that will influence data portability/VRM:
1. Security paranoia spikes demand
2. Competition:
Support has been relatively tepid in the past. When you’re winning, open standards aren’t in your interest. When you aren’t, they become much more appealing
Marshall Kirkpatrick hits on the next level of competition: competing for openness/”good”-ness.
That is: what happens when firms compete to be the most open?
It’s actually not called competition; it’s called cooperation.
